In this paper we present an implementation of a secure authentication protocol for access control on an embedded platform. We show that feasibility in terms of execution time is highly influenced by the key length, the speed of the data transmission and overall processing speed of the platform. A trade-off between speed and security will be necessary for embedded platforms. Custom hardware to speed-up cryptographic calculations can also decrease processing time.
