Abstract: Comparison of main creations by Cavaillé-Coll in France reveals the importance of the 1880s type as being the most flexible and universal for performing the main repertoire of the period. More in detail, the Saint-François-de-Sales organ in Lyon can be considered as a model for reconstruction.
