The present article focuses on the early Slavonic translation of the Martyrdom of Polycarp. This versional evidence remains virtually unknown to the scholarly community partly due to restricted availability of the relevant manuscripts and partly because of lack of expertise in Church Slavonic among the specialists. Taking as a point of departure a short note on this subject published in 1979, this contribution first corrects several slips that crept in into that otherwise very useful article. It examines then a Slavonic manuscript, which was unavailable to the authors of the aforementioned note. Eventually this contribution emphasises the text critical value of the Church Slavonic version, which turns out to be independent of the available Greek manuscripts of the Martyrdom of Polycarp.
