Abstract: The calcium-dependent signaling molecules calcineurin and calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) both have been linked to decompensated hypertrophy and arrhythmias. CaMKII is also believed to be involved in acute modulation of ion channels.
