Abstract:
This paper presents the results of four-point bending tests on reinforced recycled aggregate concrete beams. Starting from a conventional reference concrete, coarse natural aggregates are 100% replaced by recycled concrete aggregates. In comparison with the reference concrete, the recycled aggregate concrete beams have a smaller average crack spacing and similar crack widths. Deflection in the uncracked state is larger due to a smaller modulus of elasticity. In the cracked state, bending stiffness of the RAC-beams is only slightly affected by the replacement of the aggregates.
