Abstract:
The new short-range communication capabilities like NFC and optical communication (using camera technology) offer opportunities for using mobile devices in advanced access control scenarios. This paper classifies them in three categories with similar functional requirements, namely access to local, physical and remote resources. In each category, several architectural options and their impact on the privacy and security requirements are discussed. This is the first step towards a mobile middleware solution that supports these different architectural options and, hence, facilitates the development of security-aware applications in mobile settings.
