Abstract:
The medical history of a 51-year-old woman with hypertrophic osteoarthropathy (HOA) secondary to bronchogenic adenocarcinoma, is reported. The clinical examination, causes, diagnosis, pathophysiology and treatment of clubbing in general and of HOA in particular are reviewed. This case report and review underline the importance of a detailed clinical examination which includes the hands and nails of the patient.
