International Workshop on Research with Fission Fragments BENEDIKTBEUERN, GERMANY, OCT 28-30, 1996
The recent development of the IGLIS laser ion source at the LISOL facility in Belgium resulted in the first beta decay measurements of the neutron rich Ni-70 to Ni-73 nuclei, produced in proton induced fission of U-238. The ion source is described as well as the improvements realized with the implementation of the sextupole ion guide or SPIG. The identification of several new gamma lines of these nickel isotopes is discussed, while cross sections for Ni-69 to Ni-73 deduced out of the observed production rates allow a comparison with theoretical calculations.
