Abstract: We report on the magnetic behavior of pristine, substituted regioregular poly(thiophene)s. SQUID magnetometry reveals ferromagnetic order below 20K in regioregular (RR) poly(3-dodecyl) thiophene (P3DT), while the regiorandom (RRa) counterpart is barely magnetic. The magnetic behavior and strength observed by SQUID magnetometry appears to be governed by the supramolecular structure. Formation of nanodoughnut structures within the relatively short chain RRP3DT further indicates strong role of supramolecular structures towards ferromagnetic ordering.
