Abstract: In order to achieve efficient charge transfer in Langmuir-Blodgett films, a trichromophoric molecule containing an oxacarbocyanine and two pyrene moieties has been synthesized. Absorption spectra of mixed Langmuir-Blodgett films of the trichromophoric compound and myristic acid or dioleylphosphatidylcholine suggest a less extensive formation of aggregates than in mixed Langmuir-Blodgett films of dioctadecyloxacarbocyanine and arachidic acid. Upon excitation of mixed monolayers of the trichromophoric compound and fatty acids, the fluorescence of monomers and dimers of the cyanine is observed.
