Professionals working with adults with intellectual disabilities and with pupils in special education become more and more aware of the potential of ICT. However, an optimised use of ICT by people with intellectual disabilities depends strongly on the ICT and pedagogical skills of the coaching professional.
This paper outlines the ICT competencies for coaching professionals. By means of qualitative interviews in two focus groups, an ICT competency profile was established. Furthermore, this paper describes a 9-step plan based on the 4C/ID-model of „van Merriënboer‟ to support teaching ICT-skills to adults with intellectual disabilities or to pupils in special education
