Abstract: The advances of biotechnology have created a new scenario in which women can develop themselves. In this paper we will focus on the introduction of contraceptives, which influenced the social activity of women while producing a dissociation between sexual satisfaction and reproductive capacity.
This essay will recount which biotechnological advances have affected women, specifically how the contraceptive affected Chilean women. It concludes with a reflection about ethical debates that involve women as a part of the technological world and the global norms that have developed with respect to their new freedoms.
