Omnia autem probate, quod bonum est tenete: opstellen aangeboden aan Etienne D'hondt, bibliothecaris van de Maurits Sabbebibliotheek
This chapter draws conclusions from the development of the University Library over the last forty to fifty years. Despite the fires during both world wars and the splitting of the library to provide a library in Louvain-la-Neuve the library today is great library worthy of a great university. However there are major challenges for the next period, particularly concerned with development of the digital library and the key strategic issues of support for research and learning, and further policy development in quality management and efficiency. The impending reform of higher education and the role of the Leuven Association of high schools (polytechnics) also presents significant challenges for the library services.
