Abstract:

The phase behaviour of materials with dispersive and saturated interactions has been of continuing interest in experimental, simulation and theoretical studies. The competition of dispersive and saturated interactions may result in LCST phase behaviour, closed miscibility loops and self-assembled ordered phases at low temperatures. It has been argued that mean field theories fail to predict the occurrence of ordered phases1. In this contribution we show that the thermodynamic perturbation theory of Wertheim predicts complex phase behaviour including the existence of ordered structures.
