Abstract:

A lot of research has been conducted on the social and ethical implications of ICT implants. However little has still been written about the legal issues of such devices. In this paper we will discuss the privacy challenges posed by the use of implantable devices and present the way the current European legal framework can respond to the challenges, focusing on the legitimate processing of the relevant data and the rights of the individual concerned.
