Abstract: Violence against women are identified in two forms: Overt, covert. Overt forms of violence takes place in socio-economic-political entities. Covert form of violence takes clandestinely takes place in the intimate relationship. This situation pictures the status of women in Tamil Nadu (One of the Southern States of India). Although not all women are subjected to violence, violence against women is very common in Tamil society. They are deprived of their dignity and rights. In order to emancipate women from this situation, we analyse the writings of Pope John Paul II in this article. With him, we reconstruct the theology which empower women from violence.
