Abstract: A much debated and unresolved question in Pauline studies is whether there is a centre to Paul's thought. The following paper is meant to explore a much more focused, yet all the same challenging, question of whether the concept of covenant is a key notion in Paul's Letter to the Romans. I take as my starting point two recent essays that touch on this question and which arrive at opposing conclusions based on the different methodologies they employ.
