Abstract: This study questioned recently graduated Belgian nurses about their job motives (what they are looking for in their current job) and work values (what they are looking for in work in general). We can conclude that almost all graduates are employed as a nurse. They are mainly motivated by the opportunity to help other people, the profound and pleasant relationship they can build up with these people and their entourage and the job content. On a more general level, they attach most importance to the work values recognition, financial security and social service. Additionally some gender differences were found.
