Abstract: Through four studies, we developed an instrument to measure employees’ satisfaction with psychological rewards (i.e., recognition, compliments, gratitude and encouragements from the supervisor). The reliability, convergent and discriminant validity of this 1-factor scale were assessed in this paper. Tests on its measurement invariance indicated that the PReSS can be used to compare the psychological reward satisfaction of employee groups. When examining its relevance in predicting employees’ attitudes and behaviour, the PReSS turned out to be a better predictor of some job outcomes that are crucial for a successful organisational performance (i.e., turnover intention, job satisfaction and affective commitment) than pay satisfaction
