Abstract: As a world-generating condition, deafness leads to its own cosmology and its own view on Christian tradition. In deaf people's eyes, the Christian tradition, which attaches high value to representation of God by means of spoken and written language, has undeniable logocentric and graphocentric aspects that leads to an image of the Christian God as a "hearing God". This article proposes ways in which deaf people can get rid of this oppressive image of God and can learn to see the image of God within deaf persons and deaf communities themselves.
