Since its rediscovery and subsequent publication in 1883, the Didache has been the subject of intense scholarly research. More specifically, its witness to the Eucharist is well attended. Yet, there is still no consensus concerning the nature of the celebration referred to in Didache 9-10, and its relationship to the Eucharist mentioned in Didache 14. This presentation attempts to bring a new light to the interpretation of Didache 9-10; 14 and 16.2, by pointing out to the importance of the motif of gathering in these passages. This aspect was not sufficiently emphasized by previous scholarship. The present paper shows how these much-debated passages of the Didache are better understood when the notion of the gathering is recovered.
