Pastoral care for people suffering from dementia is challenging. Often means of communication are difficult or non existing. How to inspire the care for people with dementia and the carers from a theological perpsective? We use Gerkin's narrative hermeneutical method to reflect upon the pastoral praxis. In a first move, we look to the past: are there images and metaphors that touch the world of people with dementia? We use the metaphor of Holy or Silent Saturday to reflect upon dementia. In a second move we look to the future: the remembrance model shows that God will not forget any human being, although they may forget themaselves. Chaplains and carers for people with dementia can be inspired by this divine act. They are called to keep the identity of people suffering from dementia alive.
