Abstract: The mobility and bioavailability of metals are strongly dependent on their speciation. This
study focuses on the speciation and mobility of Zn, Pb and Cd in overbank sediments of the Geul river,
which are contaminated due to large-scale Pb-Zn mining and smelting. Different techniques are
combined to accurately determine speciation.
