Abstract: Because neurons are highly polarized and capable of various modes of neurosecretion the exocytotic and endocytotic membrane traffic in these cells is more complex than in other eukaryotic cells. Progress in our understanding of neuronal membrane traffic and organelle biogenesis has come from recently discovered analogies to epithelial and endocrine cells.
