Authors: Janssens, Jules # ×

Series Title: Journal of Qur'anic studies vol:9 issue:2 pages:1-21
Abstract: Al-Kindî, the father of Arabic philosophy, is the first author who has elaborated an outspoken philosophical exegesis of the Qur'ân. Even if he is clearly inspired by the discussion of the mu'tazilite theologians of his time, he nevertheless offers an exegesis which is quite different in nature, and which shows influences of the late Greek (Christian) thinker John Philoponus.
