The Council of Europe has developed the Common European Framework of Reference (CEF), a common basis for the elaboration of language syllabuses, curriculum guidelines, examinations, textbooks, etc. across Europe. We will describe how this taxonomy can be applied in a European Language Portfolio (ELP) for higher education with students of Business English. We will discuss how the descriptors determined by the CEF can be used for specific domains and comment on our development of a digital ELP for Language and Communication for Specific Purposes (LSP) on the basis of a pilot study with students of Business English at the Faculty of Economics at the K.U. Leuven, Belgium.
