Abstract: The balancing of the electricity generation system requires considerable effort from all the parties involved in the electricity delivery, especially with the integration of wind power. Two storage options, namely pumped hydroelectric storage (PHES) and the storage of wind energy as heat through heat pumps and heat storage, are being examined to cope with the variability and uncertainty of wind power in a cost-effective manner.
