Abstract: Legendre polynomials are used to approximate a
smoothly varying field solution along a direction in which the
geometry is invariant. The hybridization with standard finiteelement
shape functions defined in the cross-sectional plane leads
to a discretization scheme which outperforms a standard 3D
magnetostatic finite-element model.
