Abstract:

The combination of high incidence with high susceptibility for injuries makes falls a serious problem among the elderly living in the community. Even a minor fall can have serious consequences. This article describes the development and implementation of a protocol for risk screening and the assessment of risk factors for falls in community care that is part of a multifactorial intervention programme. Guidelines are given for health care professionals in community care who are confronted with fall problems.
