Abstract: Co-operatives in industrialised countries have a long tradition of international development co-operation. Ignace Pollet and Patrick Develtere, both researchers at HIVA looked at the different strategies these co-operatives developed to promote and support co-operative development in third world countries. Their survey covered the USA, Canada, the U.K., Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Belgium.<br><br><br> Het is een vrij onbekend fenomeen, maar coöperaties in geïndustrialiseerde landen hebben een lange traditie op het vlak van de ontwikkelingssamenwerking. Ignace Pollet en Patrick Develtere deden onderzoek naar de eigen manier waarop Noordelijke coöperaties steun geven aan coöperaties in de derde wereld. Ze verzamelden gegevens bij de grote coöperatieven van de V.S., Canada, Frankrijk, Italië, Nederland, Denemarken, Zweden, Finland, Noorwegen, Duitsland en België.
