Abstract: Characterization of the platelet-related infrared emission in diamond using photoluminescence (PL) and PL excitation techniques is reported. It is suggested that the emission originates from the radiative recombination of electrons and holes at platelet-induced bands of electron states separated by a gap of about 1.7 eV.
