Abstract: In 1980 P.G. Werner achieved a major step in explaining the low temperature observed in creep feed grinding by proposing a special mathematical model, however insisting on the discrepancies with respect, to the classical case of pendulum grinding.

In this contribution the authors show that the formulas for the temperature computation developed by Jaeger and Des Ruisseaux, supplemented with the heat loss due to chip removal, perfectly matches the both case of creep feed grinding and pendulum grinding.

The authors finally evaluate different models and conclude in establishing a firm base for computing grinding temperature, a result of previous CIRP cooperative work.
