Abstract: Compositional derivs., e.g., binodal, spinodal, and crit. conditions, of the Simha-Somcynsky expressions for the Helmholtz free energy were calcd. and used to interpret the phase behavior of polymer systems. The phase diagram of the system polyethylene-n-hexane was constructed and compared with the binodal and upper- and lower-crit.-temp. conditions computed by Jain and Simha.
