Abstract: With a numerical model the scale laws and scale effects are examinded. With a CFD-package two turbulence closures are compared with data for current flow over a sand dune. The Chen-model is chosen for comparison with data for oscillatory flow over sand ripples. The convection-diffusion equation is solved, using the erosion rate as bottom boundary condition, to calculate sedimetn concentrations. Comparison of calculation results for field dimensions and for laboratory dimensions, illustrate the difficulties which exist in reducing the scale of sand transport problems for the study in laboratory flumes.
