Abstract: The critical current density j(c) in Bi2+xSr2+yCa1+zCu2Ot single crystlas has been observed to increase sharply (by a factor of tens) after bombardment with Ar+ ions. Analysis of the flux creep, the temperature dependence of j(c), and the field dependence of j(c) reveals an intrinsic low-temperature pinning mechanism and also a defect-related high-temperature mechanism.
