Trajecta: tijdschrift voor de geschiedenis van het katholiek leven in de Nederlanden vol:9 pages:206-226
This article sketches the development of the theological faculty of the Catholic University at Leuven during the 19th century. In addition, it focuses on the contacts between the faculty and the Netherlands. It was in particular among the first generation of professors that there were various native Dutchmen. Occasionally, they were active in their home country through informal contacts, e.g. with regard to the situation in the seminaries. There were relatively few Dutch students among the foreign students at the faculty of theology. After finishing their studies in Leuven, most of them went on to occupy important ecclesiastical offices, especially as professors at diocesan seminaries.
