Abstract:
This paper will present how the process of disassembling large plastic components from EEE can increase the value recovered from EEE today. A higher quality and significantly higher mechanical properties can be achieved by the proposed process compared to post-shredder recycling. The application of infrared spectroscopy and X-Ray Fluorescence in the sorting step enables the recycling of today unrecovered plastics by the determination of their chemical structure and flame retardant content.
