Abstract:

In order to reduce the cost of wastewater treatment after sizing, Centexbel is involved with research into the recycling of starch sizing baths, which involved studying its conversion in a product with a high valorisation potential, in this case, cyclo-dextrins (CDs). Enzyme selection is described and the determination of CD concentration by high performance liquid chromatography is discussed. The conditions of the test and its applicability to industrial conditions are examined. Based on the results, it is thought that recycling of used sizing baths by CGTase is quite promising, even for sizing baths which contain secondary products, and the process is also applicable to industrial conditions.
