Abstract:

The present experiments demonstrate that in those canine blood vessels where postjunctional α2-adrenoceptors are present cooling causes potentiation of the contractile response to norepinephrine; the selective inhibition of this potentiation by yohimbine strongly suggests that the catecholamine binds more to α2-adrenoceptors at 24°C than at 37°C whereas α1-adrenoceptors appear to be less involved.
